The Incident of Funny Anger

Swami Chidananda – Eternal StoriesThe Incident of Funny Anger

Swami Chidanandaji was soft-spoken. He was like the sun without its heat, like the moon without its blemishes. He could not hurt anyone, even in his thought. Even if he got angry for some reason, he would scold in soft language and only up to a certain limit. But that day, he had raised his voice, was talking in an unusually louder voice. He was talking to someone on the steps near the main gate of Ashram and his voice could be heard even in Samadhi Shrine.

All the hands stopped work. Everyone was thinking, “Swamiji has become so angry! He is speaking so loudly! How could it be possible? Ever since he came to Ashram, he has not raised his voice to this extent! What is wrong today?”

The atmosphere was tense. No one dared to investigate. No one could comprehend his words; they could hear only a raised voice. Some time passed and one inmate dared to go to the main gate. Looking at the approaching monk Swamiji said, “He is dead deaf. I am totally exhausted asking him!” And the laughter filled the air.
