One of Swamiji’s devotee’s son’s marriage was fixed. It was in February 2007. The devotee was keen on obtaining Swamiji’s blessings for his son, who had also got initiation at the hands of Swamiji. He sent two invitation cards to Swamiji with a covering letter that read, “Swamiji I know the physical strain it would put on you if I ask you to bless my son through a letter. I do not want you to exert yourself. Therefore, please just bless one of the invitation cards merely touching it and send it back to me”.

Three days before the marriage ceremony, devotee received a telephone call from one of the personal assistants in Shanti Niwas asking for the fax number on which Gurudev’s blessings could be faxed. Within 15 minutes there was a fax received from Dehardun. It was the same marriage invitation, signed across by Swamiji with blessings written on it in his own handwriting! What a graceful gesture, even when he was confined to the bed! He had instructed his Assistant to fax the blessings to make sure that it reached the devotee before marriage date. Original signed invitation was received a few days later. The family felt the presence of Swamiji in the marriage ceremony, showering his blessings on the newly married couple.

Such is the compassion, grace, love and affection Swamiji had towards all his devotees who laid their trust at his feet. Only those who have experienced it can know.
